Reports, complaints and appeals
How to tell us about something that shouldn’t be on Goose, what happens next, and how to complain about Goose or ask us to look again at a decision.
Reporting a post or comment
- Signed in, use the flag on a post or Report under a comment, and choose a reason. One of the reasons is illegal content, such as threats, hate or animal cruelty.
- Without an account, email us the link and tell us what’s wrong. The reporting page explains how.
- Reports are private: the person you report isn’t shown your report.
- If anyone is in immediate danger, call 999.
What happens to a report
- A person reviews every report. Nothing is decided automatically.
- We aim to look at reports of illegal content within 24 hours, and other reports within 2 working days.
- Reports of illegal content and animal-welfare concerns go to the Goose team only. Other reports about a rescue’s posts and comments are seen by that rescue’s team and by Goose.
- The rescue can hide a comment on its posts. Goose can remove a comment or a post, and can suspend an account that breaks our terms. Or the report is closed with no action.
- Every decision is recorded, with who made it and when.
Keeping comments kind
- Only rescues Goose has approved can publish posts. Comments are public and moderated.
- Comments can’t include links, or a small number of slurs that Goose blocks outright.
- A rescue can turn comments off on a post, and anyone signed in can block a commenter.
Appealing a decision
If your comment was hidden or removed, or your account was suspended, and you think that was a mistake, email hello@ourgoose.com. Please include:
- the email address of your Goose account;
- a link to the post, or what your comment said;
- why you think the decision was wrong.
A person at Goose reviews every appeal, and can restore a comment or an account. We aim to reply within 14 days and will tell you the outcome.
Complaining about Goose
To complain about Goose itself, including how we handled a report or an appeal, email hello@ourgoose.com with the details and any links. A person at Goose reviews every complaint, and we aim to reply within 14 days.
If your complaint is about your personal data, our privacy notice explains your rights, including how to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
